Dynagrade – Timber strength grading

Timber strength grading with Dynagrade can be done in accordance with most timber standards. Dynagrade allows for timber strength grading for most of the common grades in Europe, such as C18, C24, TR26, C30, T15 and T22, and in North America the MSR grades such as 1650f and 2100f. Dynagrade is also used for grading into Australian grades MGP10 and higher. Dynalyse has the expertise around grading standards and your market opportunities.

Product information

Fast and rational timber strength grading in transfer lines
Dynagrade is designed for lumber and timber strength grading and is easily installed in dry sorting mills and planer mills. The footprint of Dynagrade is less than 1 meter (3 ft)! The maximum capacity is at least 240 lpm, and fulfills most demands.

Simple principle – smart design
The Dynagrade strength timber grading is designed to meet industry demands. A spring-loaded impact mechanism (a kind of hammer) in the main unit is activated by the cross conveyed lumber/timber. Each stroke generates vibrations in the wood, and the generated sound is captured by robust high-tech microphones. At the same time, the length of the piece is measured by a laser-based length reader, alternatively imported from the PLC. The timber piece rests on special low-friction supports during the measurement itself, during the continuous operation.

Dynagrade is compact, robust, easy to install and use
The Dynagrade timber strength system requires small space and has few moving parts and no active components like motors or other. These features and the robust design imply a high availability and low maintenance cost for Dynagrade. Our 20 years experience tells us that a Dynagrade has a long life! Dynagrade requires no readjustment for different timber sizes. The grading result of Dynagrade shows a very high repeatability. Dynagrade has proven its function in over 130 mills.

Wide acceptance
Dynagrade has been scrutinized and verified by various testing institutes since 1996 for the most common timberg strength grading standards. Dynagrade is approved in accordance with the European standard EN 14081 for machine strength grading of structural timber (C-grades) and glulam laminations (T-grades). Dynagrade is also approved in Canada and in the USA. In addition, Dynagrade is also approved for grading of glulam laminations according to the Japanese standard JAS. Grading of Australian MGP-classes is also done today with Dynagrade in Europe for lumber export to Australia.

Optional

MT250 – TESTING RIG FOR BEND TESTING OF WOOD
The MT250 is a testing rig optimized for testing wood. It is designed for easy handling and testing of timber to EN standards, Australian MGP, US MSR and several other standards.

The standard version includes bending testing, with an option for shear testing of adhesive joints in the same rig.

The MT250 is easy to set up for different dimensions when bending testing timber up to dimensions 75×250 mm2.

The rig’s measurement system is connected via TCP/IP to a PC with associated software. The results are stored in a database and can be extracted in reports.

DATAREPORT
Data Report monitors and documents processes performed by Dynagrade, Precigrader and other systems from Dynalyse. Ongoing processes are displayed in real time in digital interfaces and historical data is collected in reports. As sub-results for Dynagrade or Precigrade, the various types of machine layouts are displayed, for possible action of the process. If the Visual Supplemental Check data is loaded by Dynagrade or Precigrader, the total result is also displayed.

Technical data

Dynagrade is based on the measurement of resonance frequencies and length. It is designed to be robust, simple-to-use and offers a wide spectrum of grading applications.

Main prerequisites:

  • Limber/timber size and length 1):

Thickness 19-110 mm, Width 60-300 mm, Length 1200-7200 mm

  • Sawn or planed surface
  • Dried lumber/timber, cut to angle
  • Required space: less than 1 meter (3 ft) of a transfer line with lugged chains (standard)
  • Grade, grading parameter and length output via RS232, Profinet, TCP/IP. Grade also as relay outputs.
  • Option: Twin solution for sorting before and after the planer, if splitting is done in the planer.

1) Length interval is max 4800 mm when measured with the optional length reader, i.e. a fixed interval from 1200-6000 mm up to 2400-7200 mm. No limitation in interval for imported length. Various standards and approvals may limit the size and length intervals.
